Rachel Barber, MSN, NP-C
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner + Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
My name is Rachel Barber and I am a 40-something Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetics (cosmetic injectables and skincare) in my hometown of Ukiah, California. My aesthetic goal for my patients is to not alter their facial features by over-treating, but rather to rejuvenate and gently address areas of the face that are showing signs of aging in a subtle and complementary way. My available services at Lux include designing treatment regimens using ZO Skin Health skincare, as well as administering cosmetic injectables: neuro-modulators and dermal fillers.
I am an American Academy of Nurse Practitioner's Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. I completed my undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and my Master's of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Sonoma State University School of Nursing.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I was an acute care registered nurse for 10 years in various settings such as the Emergency Department, Pediatric ICU, Oncology and Surgical Pre and Post-Anesthesia Care. As a family nurse practitioner I have worked in Emergency and Occupational Medicine and as an Instructor of Registered Nursing at Mendocino College. In 2013 I chose to exclusively focus my work on aesthetics because of my love for noticeable results from consistent quality skincare and because I am especially blessed with an artistic eye for naturally and conservatively placed cosmetic injectables.
I am pleased to have partnered with Medical Director, Dr. Brandon Begley, DO, in 2017 to create Lux Medical Aesthetics. I continue to gain expert level injection training by attending annual aesthetic conferences and advanced injector courses. I utilize safe injection technique, study facial anatomy and have many years of experience with micro-cannulas for filler to enhance safety, comfort and lower the risk for bruising.
